Vinyasa Flow
This style of yoga focuses on connecting movement with breath as we creatively transition from one pose to another. Sequences may be repeated or varied as we move in a spirit of curiosity and exploration. Awareness of the breath helps to calm the nervous system and cultivate mindfulness. The foundational poses help to develop strength, stability, and flexibility. Feel the stress melt away as you focus on the breath and movement to gently stretch your body and bring mindfulness to your poses. This is a multi-level class with variations offered, and is accessible to those new to yoga, as well as the experienced yogi who wants to refine and deepen their yoga practice.
Gentle Flow
This gentle vinyasa flow yoga is an inclusive class that uses the breath to connect the body to the movement. Awareness of the breath helps to calm the nervous system and cultivate mindfulness. The foundational poses help to develop strength, stability, and flexibility. Feel your stress melt away as you focus on the breath and movement to gently stretch the body and bring about deeper relaxation. Using a chair, this is a multi-level class with variations offered. The sequences are hands-free and wrist-free, a class that is perfect for those new to yoga, as well as for the experienced yogi who wants to refine and deepen their yoga practice.
Chair Yoga
This 45 minute class is geared towards adults who have a tricky time sitting and standing up from the floor in a typical yoga class. The class consists of simple yoga poses done with the assistance of a chair to help strengthen and stretch the body. The chair will be used to sit on (instead of the floor) and used to practice standing and simple balancing poses. Short breathing and relaxation exercises will be incorporated at the beginning and end of the session. Open to all levels including complete beginners
Yin Yoga
In this nourishing practice, we remain mostly on the floor (or in a chair), allowing longer (3-5 minute), passive holds to work gently and mindfully into the body’s connective tissues. We allow time and gravity to do most of the work, releasing all effort and tuning in to our body’s innate wisdom.
Yoga Nidra
In Yoga Nidra, or “yogic sleep”, we allow conscious thought and effort to fall away. The instructor will provide a series of prompts for body, mind, and breath to guide participants into a state of deep relaxation.
Yoga for Big Feelings
Have some energy to burn? This is not your usual yoga class. We’ll turn UP the music (expect punk, grunge, rap, hip-hop, protest) and focus on cardio, strength, and energetic breathing. Yelling and singing encouraged. All are welcome.
Blissful Hour
Blissful Hour combines yin with yoga nidra to promote a state of deep relaxation, guiding you gently out of the week and into the weekend. Light refreshments are served.
Meditation
Join the Lost River Mindfulness Community for its weekly meditation practice. No prior experience or registration are necessary. Expect a combination of sitting, walking, and dharma sharing in the Plum Village tradition.
Tai Chi Club
The Tai Chi Club is a group that meets and follows a 20-minute instructional video. On Tuesdays, Tai Chi is followed by tea and snacks. There’s no fee for the Tai Chi club.
